Hi Wild Ones! Every month I recommend books, movies, and TV that I’ve enjoyed. Looking for your next read or watch? Read on.
The last few months have been really busy, and these updates kinda got away from me. I also haven’t read as much as I’d like to have, but that’s life sometimes. I have some really fun Christmas books, a fantasy vampire novel that was captivating, and two excellent sci-fi movies with great Ace representation – with Valentine’s Day vibes.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy by Kristine Grayson
This was a unique take on Santa and the North Pole and the Christmas mythology that gets built up around Santa, with a main character that has a mixed ethnic background. And it went unexpectedly deep and made me cry. I thought about it for a while after I finished it, and I love when a book does that to me. This isn’t the first in the series, so I’m thinking of starting at the beginning next Christmas.

He’s Behind You! by Clare London
A warm M/M Christmas story with some truly great side characters and a memorable Christmas play. Lots of fun.

Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent
The Crowns of Nyaxia series has a great take on vampires, with lots of worldbuilding that’s unique. And interesting romance, which this had. This is an in-between novella between books 1 & 2 of the main series, with new characters. It will be interesting to see how they fit with the rest of the series. I enjoyed the plot twists and turns, and the MC who seemed to bring autism representation. And the narration was fantastic for the audiobook.

Detroit Evolution | Detroit Become Human Fan Film by Reed900 Film
A short Sci-Fi film dealing with conscious robots, with a fantastic queer love story. I don’t play the Detroit Evolution videogame, had never even heard of it before seeing the film recommended somewhere on Tumblr as having great Ace representation, but that didn’t matter. It was a great movie with interesting characters, a mystery to solve, and a romance that had me rooting for them by the end. It’s also a fan film, making the great quality extra impressive. It’s free to watch on YouTube.

Detroit Reawakening | Detroit Become Human Fan Film by Reed900 Film
A lovely short look at Gavin and Nine’s Valentine’s Day, which was cute and poignant and a great followup to the first film. It’s also free to watch on YouTube.
